In a recent move to improve the welfare of Osun's pensioners, Governor Ademola Adeleke has authorized the immediate disbursement of gratuity payments to retirees from 2008 to 2011. This decision underscores his commitment to enhancing the living conditions of pensioners in the state.
The Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau, Mr. Ibrahim Akibu, announced this development in a statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo. He urged affected pensioners to visit the Bureau for documentation and confirmation of their names to facilitate the payment process.
A total of 210 million naira has been allocated for primary school teachers who retired between 2008 and 2011 under the old pension scheme. Mr. Akibu emphasized that retirees should promptly come to the Bureau's office in Abere for proper documentation and timely payment.
This move follows a similar approval by Governor Adeleke on July 12, 2024, when he released over 103 million naira for local government retirees under the old pension scheme.
